Amazing Photos in NG photo contest

National Geographic’s Photography Contest 2010 has entries up for public voting, and the photos do not disappoint. Within the three categories of People, Places and Nature are astonishing shots of everything from thunderstorms in Montana to Himalayan monasteries to the long-exposure flight patterns of moths.

Interactive Puppet Prototype with Xbox Kinect

Xbox Kinect is just released and still there is a lot of cool modifies. Here is one made by Theo Watson. The system is doing skeleton tracking on the arm and determining where the shoulder, elbow, and wrist is, using it to control the movement and posture of the giant funky bird!

Have Alex Schulman straighten out your boring friend!

Is your friend a homebody, a clingy parent, a workaholic or just plain boring? In this interactive campaign you can straighten your dull friend out with the help of the smug Alex Schulman. By filling in the name of your friend and why they are a bore, a story is built and executed through a movie that your friend receives in an email. Or have Alex Schulman call them live on the site, to really let them know how boring they’ve become!

Alex Schulman is a Swedish journalist and a comedian, who’s famous for his sarcastic and clever humor. The site is a interactive campaign for Nöjesbladet, which is a sub-section of the newspaper Aftonbladet. The site uses live synthetic text-to-speech technology from Acapela and live-stream-servers. Naked came up with this great idea and Strip Digital was in charge of all aspects of the production. Producer: Karl Rosander, Developer: Martin Wijk, Visual Artist: Christoffer Öberg Runfors, Director: Jonas Zachrisson

Vernissage: Friday 22 October 17.00-21.00
Book release: Thursday 21 October 17.00-19.00

21.10.10 – 31.10.10
Carina Björck Gallery, Svartmangatan 25, Stockholm

Carina Björck Gallery is pleased to announce New York artist Devlin Shea’s first solo exhibition in Stockholm.

For this series Shea submerged herself in different landscapes learning how to depict the feelings of heaviness, expansion and loneliness that these places can elicit. Throughout this time she was using the internet to google how people affect each other and creating a visual encyclopedia of human connection, disconnection and desire.

The physical and digital sources were brought together in large scale gouache paintings. The figures are placed in landscapes that contextualize their struggles and states of being. The research drawings have been made into a book, a pocket size piece of internet time, taken out of context and reinterpreted.”

Strip creates interactive political rally!

This campaign was made together with Prime PR for Aftonbladet. As a visitor on the site, you could ask the politicians questions about their party and current political topics. Everything happened live and all of the major political parties were represented. The campaign was filmed while the candidates were campaigning in various locations, using mobile satellite technology.

Strip likes DIY-Space Crafts

With cheap technology and a great vision you can accomplish amazing things. This guy and his son attached a HD camera to a weather balloon that rose into the upper stratosphere and recorded the blackness of space.
